This is a last minute dive because several folks are going out from the "short list". There are two seats available for tomorrow.
At a depth of just over 50 feet this is a medium depth dive at a reef with various structures giving it a good profile.
The reef was formed using a variety of materials including barge steel, bridge rubble concrete, concrete culverts including concrete oval culverts, concrete pilings, concrete cut-offs, concrete sinkers and boat molds.
Rube Allyn Reef has tall pyramid shaped structures that were constructed after the Clearwater Pass Bridge was used to further the construction of this reef and these tall 20 foot high structures attract pelagic fish to the reef and is often where you will find kingfish.
When you dive this reef you will also see snappers, grunts, amberjack, mackerel, baitfish and cobia to name but a few.
The Pinellas County Artificial Reef program has deliberately used different materials and structures at each of the reefs to provide different profiles on these reefs and encourage all forms of marine life to inhabit the various structures.
This will be a double drop so 2 tanks will be required. The price does not include tanks, gear, or gratuity. Tanks and gear can be provided with prior advance notice at a reasonable price. This dive is open to all divers including Junior Divers.
Boat load out / safety brief at 9a and underway by 9:30a.
